URINARY ENDOSCOPY

Exams

It is an endoscopic exam of the lower urinary passages – which include the urethral canal and the inside of the bladder in men, women and children.

For this procedure, after the patient is correctly sedated and prepared, the cystoscope is introduced through the urethra. The cystoscope is an instrument with an attached video camera, which allows the visualization of the whole interior of the urethra and the bladder.

This procedure yields a detailed exam and also the collection of biopsy material, if that is the case. Because it only takes a few minutes, the exam does not require internment.

At the end of the procedure, the patient awakens quickly from an induced sleep and is discharged as soon as he or she is well awake.
